In an early nominee for BIIF game of the year Thursday night, Kainalu Kahapea helped the Warriors fight back before fouling out in the fourth quarter with 28 points, and Kamehameha outlasted Hawaii Prep 73-69 in double overtime in Waimea.
Matija Vitorovic scored 25 points for Ka Makani, who lost their opener despite leading after each of the first three quarters. HPA led by 46-40 entering the fourth.
After each team scored four points in the first overtime, Kamehameha (2-1) made five free throws to pull away.
On Tuesday, the Warriors almost went to overtime at Keaau, but Soloman Escolante hit a buzzer-beater in a 50-48 victory.
In JV, HPA won 40-36.
